Why Did Elsa Go To Ahtohallan

Once there Elsa made her way to Ahtohallan where she found the source of the voice and became the fifth spirit the bridge between humanity and nature. This could mean that the siren call Elsa heard was actually an echo of Iduna that Ahtohallan was using to call to her so that she could fully realize and accept her powers as the fifth spirit.

Frozen 2 doesnt provide an exact reason for how Elsa dies on Ahtohallan other than that its a result of her diving into the dark memories which slowly but surely begin to freeze her in place with every memory she tries to uncover. She also discovered the truth as to why the forest had been cursed. When she finally learns the ultimate truth about King Runeard it seems she had gone too far in her quest.

When Elsa finally reaches Ahtohallan the ice cave shows her glimpses of her own past and also of her mothers past including the moment when Iduna sang over Agnarr. That her powers were a gift from nature because of Idunas selfless act of saving Agnarr and that Elsa herself is the fifth spirit. The queens lullaby All Is Found warns that while Ahtohallan is full of memories going in too deep will cause one to drown.

One because Elsa is the incarnation of Ahtohallan and therefore descended from it and one in essence with it. In searching for answers about her history and destiny Elsa travels too deep inside the glacier and finds herself unable to escape. If one enters the deepest parts one will be drowned as the lullaby says - frozen into a solid ice statue not unlike the memories brought to life by Elsa.

Furthermore Ahtohallan is Elsas mother in a couple of different ways. Our first hint that Queen Iduna was the one who saved King Agnarr came when little Anna reacted to her fathers story. She is mercifully saved by a spooky horse-spirit Once there she sees a vision of her late mom which almost made me cry.

Elsa knows this song by heart and even acknowledges the cautionary line with Honeymaren. It can be assumed that Ahtohallan has a form of sentience as it called Elsa to it so that she could become the fifth spirit and discover the truth about the past. The good news is even though Anna and Elsa are going to have to learn to come into their own while actually living apart they still have plans to hang out on the regular.

When Elsa arrives at Ahtohallan after following her mothers voice she finds not only her memories but her mothers as well linking them both to the frozen magic of the glacier. Elsa is shown a memory of her mother using air magic in the forest and interacting with the elemental spirits. Ahtohallan is repeatedly referred to as a magical river said to hold the answers about the past.

I think this is funnyright. Reaching Ahtohallan Elsa discovers that the voice was the call of Iduna and that her power was a gift from the magic of nature because of Idunas selfless act of saving Agnarr making her the fifth spirit who unites differences. Because it is made of ice Elsa can use her powers to get into Ahtohallan and see the memories of the past hidden in it.

So why doesnt she heed it. Still that doesnt stop her from diving deep into Ahtohallan. She is the Fifth Spirit with the power and duty to restore the harmony that was broken by her grandfather by uniting the peoples and the elemental spirits to herself and thereby to Ahtohallan.

Elsa also travels alone to Ahtohallan the magical river of ice north of the Dark Sea to find out the truth about who she really is and where her powers come from while Anna learns how to free the Enchanted Forest and how Elsa can save Arendelle. Elsa makes a conscious choice to go too deep into the cave. And two because Elsas birth was determined by Ahtohallan in that it chose Iduna as the one to give birth to the Fifth Spirit.

The horses presence in her childhood flashback was a neat little bit of foreshadowing. Once Elsa arrives at Ahtohallan she discovers that its actually a glacier rather than a moving river. And when she views the memory of her mother in Ahtohallan and realizes that she is the fifth spirit she says I am found as it says you are found personally addressing Elsa.

Why did Elsa freeze in Ahtohallan.
